My name is Tom Frink and I am a Colorado resident. My son is Shawn Frink, also of
Colorado, and we as a team provide rough cut colored lumber. These trees are colored
from the base of the tree to the tips of the leaves or needles. In 1962, my father and I
actually came up with the idea of coloring trees for our pine jewelry business. Knowing that
we wanted the branches of the trees to be colored to use the wood for our businesss we
knew that we would have to color the whole tree.
We began experimenting with many different trees to get the results we wanted. Two years
and over a thousand experiments later, we achieved our goal of dyeing the trees in full with
the color of choice. Our first big aspen grove was colored in 1964. We chose to use trees
the government or landowners needed to be thinned, or trees that were to be cut down for
firewood. Over the past 42 years we have successfully colored over 35 different varieties of
trees making us the only people in the world (that we know of) to
add color to living trees.

Our process is very beneficial due to the fact that the whole tree can be used: the trunk
for large dimensional lumber, the limbs for craft supplies such as the making of pens, the
needles woven into colorful baskets, and the leaves used as interesting wall hangings.
These are just a few examples. Only one can imagine the countless uses for all the
parts of the tree.

Once this process of coloring, cutting, and drying is finished, the possible use for the
wood is endless:
Furniture
Cabinets
Paneling
Railing
Veneers
Musical Instruments
Picture Frames
Woodturnings
And the list goes on.............
